American Ethanol

American Ethanol is a homegrown fuel, produced in American biorefineries throughout the country, especially in the Midwest. The raw material, field corn, is also America's most abundant crop. Because ethanol is produced from a sustainable and renewable crop, America will never run out of this reliable and plentiful energy source. And because ethanol production only requires the starch from a corn kernel, the corn protein can still be used for high value livestock feed.
American Ethanol is almost always priced lower than gasoline - often by as much as a dollar per gallon! Every car produced since 2001 has been approved by the EPA for using E15 or Unleaded 88, allowing consumers to capture even more savings from blending the lower cost fuel.
American Ethanol is made right here in America's heartland from corn that was also grown right here. Our biorefineries not only produce ethanol, but also high protein livestock feed, corn oil for use in biodiesel production, and captured CO2 for use in the food and beverage industries. Between the farm, transportation, and manufacturing, our industry is a major factor in growing our rural economy. In Wisconsin alone we contribute $4.2 billion to the state's GDP.
American Ethanol has an octane of 113 versus gasoline's octane of 84. Correctly optimized engines will perform better, go faster, and go farther on a gallon of fuel with higher ethanol blends by taking advantage of the higher octane. Ethanol burns cleaner and doesn't leave behind engine-clogging gunk (unlike gasoline!). Ethanol helps reduce the effects of water condensation in fuel tanks. Products like HEET consist of mostly alcohol (ethanol). And a gallon of ethanol takes 3 times less energy to produce than a gallon of gasoline.
"90% of our 400 farm customers operate within 50 miles of our plant."
